(Seguin) -- The Seguin-Guadalupe County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is looking to celebrate its silver anniversary with a night of laughs. The Hispanic chamber is inviting its membership and members of the public to its 25th Annual Silver Anniversary Awards Banquet this Thursday at the Seguin-Guadalupe County Coliseum.
Chamber President Louis Ramirez says after schedule conflicts, the chamber was forced to move its annual banquet date to the end of the summer instead of its traditional time of January/February. Nonetheless, Ramirez says the chamber is proud to be celebrating with a well know funny man -- simply known as "Happy." Ramirez says in the spirit of celebration, the chamber really wanted to mix business with humor.
"We got a very talented comedian, Happy, who will be doing the entertaining. Thus, there will be no keynote speaker on the banquet night," said Ramirez.
Ramirez says in addition to the comedy show, the chamber will, of course, be recognizing those who continue to make a difference in the business community.
"Then, we're going to issue some awards to corporations, business people and other civic leaders in the community. I must mention another thing. We will also be presenting Texas Lutheran University with scholarship money for a TLU student. This has been a result of our golf tournaments that we've had with Johnny Ramirez," said Ramirez.
The awards banquet will include a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday. It will be followed by dinner and the program at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and are available in advance at various locations. Those locations include Su Casa Cafe, P.J.'s Restaurant and the Hispanic chamber office located on West Court Street. A limited number of tickets will be sold at the door.
