(Seguin) -- Wednesday reportedly turned into an extremely busy night for firefighters who were all called out overnight to the old Seguin High School campus for a second fire. This fire occurred in the 600 wing located along Lamar Street.

Fire Chief Dale Skinner says the fire, which began just after midnight on Thursday morning, consumed approximately a third of the old building that was already slated for demolition.

Fire rips through grain building in Seguin

(Seguin) -- Investigation continues into the three-alarm fire that destroyed a large storage facility along West New Brainless Street in Seguin. 

Seguin Fire Chief Dale Skinner says the building was completely engulfed in flames when they arrived Wednesday night.

Seguin woman dies in car crash in San Marcos

(San Marcos) -- A Seguin woman was killed following a single vehicle accident in San Marcos.

Officials say the car crash was reported just after 11 a.m. on Thursday in the 1900 block of State Highway 123. Succumbing to her injuries was Cassandra Baldera, 26, of Seguin.  The woman was reportedly a passenger in the vehicle being driven by her brother Eric Baldera, 18, of Seguin. The driver is said to have sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Free football fundamentals clinic set for Saturday; Former UT, NFL player inviting the community to support Boys and Girls Club on Friday night

(Seguin) -- Parents with pre-registered kids are being reminded about Saturday's free football fundamentals camp at Seguin High School's Matador Stadium.  The camp is being hosted by Seguin native and former University of Texas and NFL Football Player Lawrence Sampleton. Sampleton is facilitating the event on behalf of the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Texas.

The non-profit group which is currently working to transform the former Seguin Activity Center into it's newest home is utilizing the free football camp to help introduce and share part of its mission with local families. The co-ed camp is open to kids ages 6-14.

Seguin 9-10 All-Stars advance to state title round, Monday's game to air on KWED

(Seguin) - The Seguin Little League 9-10 year old Softball All-Stars earned a spot in the championship round of the Texas East State Tournament with a 10-0 win over Kountze on Friday and a 1-0 shutout of Weimar on Sunday at Starcke Park.  Starting pitcher Kendall Hurt struck out 16 over the course of the two games.  Shelby Stevens hit what proved to be the game-winning solo home run against Weima.  Reagan Herrera homered against Kountze, and Sara Falor drove in four runs.  Tonight's championship round starts at 6 p.m., with the "if-necessary" game immediately following.  The game or games will air live on KWED 1580 AM and Seguintoday.com.  

Texas Lutheran Softball wins NCAA team stat title for stolen bases per game

Kayme Gooden (pictured) was one of five TLU players to finish among the top 100 nationally in stolen bases per game. 
 
(Seguin) – Texas Lutheran University Softball claimed the 2017 NCAA Division III team statistical national championship for stolen bases per game, the NCAA Media Coordination and Statistics Staff confirmed earlier this week.
