Former councilman Phil Seidenberger dies

(Seguin) -- A long time active member of the Seguin community has died. Former Seguin City Council Phil Seidenberger died late last night. Seidenberger, earlier this year resigned his council seat, due to his battle with cancer.

Early voting ends Friday for Tuesday's District 3 Seguin Council election

(Seguin) -- While the community absorbs the sad news of former Councilman Phil Seidenberger's death on Thursday night, the election to find his replacement enters its last day of early voting. Four men are vying to fill Seidenberger's unexpired term. Seidenberger resigned his seat earlier this year due to health concerns. Those on the ballot include Jim Green, Jeremiah Arevalo, Dennis Estes, and Jim Lievens.

Car repossession scam hitting local phones

(Seguin) – You might want to call your bank or car loan lender before negotiating a deal over the phone to prevent your vehicle from being repossessed. Investigator Sgt. Robert Murphy of the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office says unknown persons are reportedly calling local citizens and advising them that they need to pay them money or have their vehicle repossessed.

TLU's Social Entrepreneurship Department nationally recognized as a model program for civic responsibility

(Seguin) -- The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) has named Texas Lutheran University's Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (SISE) program a model department for civic learning. With only 22 institutions selected nationwide, TLU's SISE program will be featured on the AAC &U website as a leading example for democratic engagement as an expectation for students majoring in that discipline.

(Seguin) - Seguin will play the role of spectator rather than participant in the UIL football playoffs for the 11th straight season after a lopsided 49-28 loss to Kerrville-Tivy Friday night in the final home game of the year at Matador Stadium.

(Schulenburg) - The Seguin High School volleyball team survived a competitive area round playoff match Thursday night to earn a spot in the 5A Region IV quarterfinals with 3-1 victory over Richmond-Foster in Schulenburg.
