Seguin gears up for largest holiday night parade; Downtown events to feature lighted parade, additional lighting in Central Park

(Seguin) -- The city is preparing to host its largest ever Lighted Holiday Stroll Parade in Downtown Seguin. That's according to Chandra Jobb, the recreation superintendent for the city's parks and recreation department. Jobb says the city is overwhelmed by the number of float entries and is thrilled to have so many groups, churches and local businesses participate.

(Seguin) -- Local children are invited to nestle together on the Seguin Public Library's monumental staircase landing for a morning of holiday stories. Members of the Friends of the Seguin Public Library want families to stop by for its Holiday Readings & Stories for Children event this Saturday.

Seguin High School thespians succeed at state festival

(Seguin) - Members of the Seguin High School Theatre Arts program attended the annual Texas Thespian Festival in Grapevine Nov. 15-17. At the event, Amber Mawande-Spytek received a Musical Theatre scholarship to the tune of $1,000.00. She also received a superior rating and qualified for nationals in Solo Musical.

Seguin Deputy Police Chief to lead Holiday Stroll Parade

(Seguin) -- The city of Seguin will kick off the holiday season with the help of its own hometown hero. Seguin Deputy Police Chief Bruce Ure has been selected to serve as the grand marshal for this year's Holiday Stroll Parade.
 
Seguin Mayor Don Keil says he chose Ure after hearing about his life-saving actions during the Las Vegas shooting last month.

(San Antonio) – Navarro vs. Cuero has become an annual tradition in the UIL football playoffs over the past half-decade, and the series continues for the fifth straight season tonight when the Panthers and Gobblers square off in the 4A Division II Region IV semifinals at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio.

(Tyler) – The University of Texas at Tyler out-scored Texas Lutheran 53-29 in the second half to register an 84-65 non-conference men’s basketball win Tuesday night at the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center.
