(Seguin) -- Seguin ISD Superintendent Matthew Gutierrez is further explaining his views on the current state of the district, and how the district is working with the community to map out plans for the district's future.

Dr. Gutierrez recently talked with the Seguin Daily News and radio station KWED about his inaugural "State of the District" address held last Monday at Seguin High School. The address covered a great deal of ground. It focused on his baseline assessment of the district, the current work being done in local classrooms, and the process that's been started to develop a strategic plan for district.

(Seguin) -- It's time to roll up your sleeves and help give to both the Seguin Police Department Blue Santa Program and Christian Cupboard food panty.
 
Seguin Radio KWED will again be hosting its annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive this Friday outside its studios at 609 E. Court St.

Note card project designed to lift spirits, help with rebuild of Rockport†

(Seguin) -- Local artist Janice McCurry is giving everyone the opportunity to sign, seal and deliver an angel. McCurry, who for years served as a school counselor in the Navarro ISD, says her passion to help others has taken shape into a note card project -- a project called "Hearts of Love." The package of eight individually designed angels encompassing the words such as love, hope and faith are being sold with proceeds going to those still trying to rebuild following Hurricane Harvey.

(Seguin) -- Local families are invited to continue the kickoff celebration of the 2017 Holiday Season in Seguin. Thursday night the city triggered the Christmas spirit with its annual lighted Holiday Stroll Parade and lighting of Central Park.

Navarro rally falls short in season ending loss Cuero

(San Antonio) - Cuero eliminated Navarro from the UIL football playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons Friday night, staving off a second-half rally to hand the Panthers a 38-24 loss in the 4A Division II Region IV semifinals at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio.
