GRWC offers tips to get healthier in 2018; Start small, set realistic goals may be key to your success

(Seguin) -- Losing weight and getting healthy is the top New Year's resolution each year. That means there's a good chance that many of you have taken that vow again this year. If you want to be successful with this goal in 2018, experts say you need to make sure that you keep a few easy tips in mind. 

Nicole Bruton, member services supervisor at Guadalupe Regional Wellness Center (GRWC), says everyone starts off excited about the new year, but they lose some of that energy as time goes by because they didn't have a measurable or realistic goal set for the new year. She says the best advice may be to keep your goals simple.

Seguin EDC, city of Seguin say 2017 was good year; Economic development officials expect big things in New Year

(Seguin) -- The city of Seguin Economic Development Department says it expects the positive growth to continue in Seguin this new year. Seguin Economic Development Director Josh Schneuker oversees the department and also serves as the executive director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC). Schneuker says 2017 was a good overall year for Seguin, and that's one of the reasons he is so optimisitc about the new year. Schneuker says there's a lot of diversity to their work, and they saw a lot of improvements in the overall economy last year.

Despite economic gains -- Siro, Wal-Mart projects on hold

(Seguin) -- While the overall news for 2017 and the prospects for 2018 appear to be good for the SEDC and the city, there are still two economic development projects that have been delayed.

Seguin Economic Development Director Josh Schneuker (snye-kuhr) also is also using the new year to address some projects that have been on stand-by for the last couple of years. He says the Ciro USA project, which is a Spanish based company that was to bring a large commercial bakery operation to Seguin with dozens of new jobs, isn't dead. But Schneuker says the project has been postponed.

Market, taxable values soar in Seguin; City says values have increased by more than $1 billion since 2003

(Seguin) -- The economy has been growing exponentially in Seguin over the last several years. Seguin Finance Director Susan Caddell provided the Seguin City Council with a snapshot of how the city has done over the last 15 years. Caddell presented the data as part of the council's meeting on Tuesday.

Caddell says both market and taxable values have grown significantly over the years. The increases have occurred over short term and long term periods. It shows that growth and development has been flourishing in Seguin for the better part of 15 years.

(Seguin) – Seguin girls basketball looks to bounce back from Friday’s 47-23 road loss to Marble Falls in District 26-5A on Tuesday when the Matadors play host to Kerrville-Tivy at Goldie Harris Gym.

Mats go 1-2 in Harlandale ISD soccer tourney

(San Antonio) – The Seguin High School girls’ soccer team notched a 1-2 record in the Harlandale ISD Tournament last week, opening the event with a 1-0 win over Edison and a 3-1 loss to San Antonio-Jay on Friday before falling to Harlandale 5-0 on Saturday.
