(Seguin) -- Seguin Deputy Police Chief Bruce Ure found himself last night in the middle of what is now the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
Ure, who "caught a piece of bullet shrapnel on his hand" during the massacre in Las Vegas shares his terrifying experience with the Seguin Daily News and Seguin Radio KWED. Although his injuries were minor, he was among the 500 injured and the now 58 confirmed dead.
Ure, was among the VIPs attending the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival featuring Country Star Jason Aldean. The outside concert was held near the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino where the suspected gunman reportedly fired at concert-goers from the 32nd floor of the Las Vegas hotel. Ure says the crowd was ambushed.More

(Las Vega, Nevada) -- Las Vegas is reeling after the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history played out on along the world famous Strip last night. Authorities say more than 50 people were killed and more than 400 injured during that shooting.

(Seguin) -- Five lives were lost during a pair of head-on crashes reported over the weekend. The first accident occurred just before 7 p.m. Friday at the Guadalupe River Bridge on FM 466.
Sgt. Deon Cockrell, of the Texas Department of Public Safety, says the crash claimed the lives of both drivers. The identities of those drivers have not yet been released. Sgt. Cockrell says the accident occurred when the driver of a 1992 Chevrolet, heading northbound, crossed the double lines -- colliding with a 2011 Kia Soul heading southbound.

(Seguin) -- When it comes to the annual Wade Busby Memorial Casino Night, it appears as though there still isn't another more successful fundraising event in Guadalupe County. Not only has the event in 13 years, raised more than $1.2 million but tickets to the fundraising event are typically sold out days even weeks in advance.
Mark Cerda, one of the founding partners for the memorial organization, says he looks forward to again remembering his friend during this year's fundraiser. The event, which also includes live and silent auctions, is scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Columbus Club Hall of Seguin.More

Junior quarterback Kyle Grona piled up 335 yards of total offense and a touchdown pass in TLU's road victory over McMurry on Saturday.
(Abilene) - Texas Lutheran rushed for 222 yards on 41 carries and held McMurry to seven net rushing yards in a 31-21 American Southwest Conference road win over the War Hawks.
