Seguin to host vigil for Sutherland Springs victims, community

(Seguin) -- Healing following Sunday's church shooting in Sutherland Springs begins tonight for the Seguin community. A gathering of various churches will be held tonight in downtown Seguin. The community is invited to participate tonight in the Healing and Hope: Prayers for the Sutherland Springs Vigil.

(Seguin) -- Tis the season for Blue Santa. Families wanting to make it onto Blue Santa's list this year are encouraged to apply now. The Seguin Police Department Blue Santa Program is gearing up for another season of making sure all kids find that special something under the Christmas tree. The program assist kids from zero to 12 years old in Seguin and Guadalupe County.

Lievens wins Seguin City Council seat; Voters approve constitutional amendments

(Seguin) -- The vacancy on the Seguin City Council has officially been filled. Jim Lievens was the winner of Tuesday's District 3 race. Lievens will now fill the one year unexpired term of former Councilman Phil Seidenberger.
Lievens says the win is bittersweet. It came on the same day that a funeral was held for Seidenberger, who died last week. Seidenberger resigned earlier this year due to health reasons, and had offered his support for Lievens.

Sutherland Springs tragedy hits Seguin; Fundraisers, GoFundMe accounts established to help local victims, their families

(Seguin) -- Sunday's deadly mass shooting in Sutherland Springs continues to bring to light more victims with ties to Seguin. One of those victims was killed. The other is still fighting for his life at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. A total of 26 people died after a man opened fire during the Sunday service in the small church.

(Seguin) – Seguin High School senior Kaylie Koenen signed a National Letter of Intent to play collegiate volleyball at the NCAA Division I level Wednesday morning, finalizing her commitment to Texas State University during a signing event in the Goldie Harris Gym foyer.

(Spring Branch) – Seguin’s goal of a second straight trip to the 5A Region IV volleyball tournament was sabotaged Friday night by an untimely injury and a scrappy Kerrville-Tivy effort in a four-set regional quarterfinal loss at Smithson Valley High School.

(Wimberley) – Navarro is headed to the 4A Region IV volleyball tournament for the second straight season with dreams of back-to-back state tournament berths intact after a 3-1 victory over Fredericksburg in Tuesday’s regional quarterfinal match at Wimberley High School.
