Snow causes school, office delays

(Seguin) -- Something extraordinary happened in Seguin and all across parts of South Central Texas last night. It snowed! I'm not talking about sleet, which is not uncommon during this time of the year. Instead, we got a couple of steady hours of snow flurries, and the community largely erupted with joy.

KWED Food and Toy Drive rescheduled for Monday

(Seguin) -- Monday will now mark the official arrival of the holiday season for Seguin Radio KWED. The radio station is hitting the streets early Monday morning to host its annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive. The annual effort, benefiting the Seguin Police Department Blue Santa Program and Christian Cupboard, will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. Monday outside its studios, located at 609 E. Court St.  The drive was originally scheduled for Friday, but it was rescheduled for Monday due to the snow that fell Thursday night.

Big Red Barn opens doors for two day Country Christmas, plus Kids/5K Dash

(Seguin) -- The Big Red Barn will be opening its doors this weekend for a Country Christmas. The public is invited to the Texas Agricultural Education & Heritage Center for its annual County Christmas celebration. The event will be held Friday and Saturday night from 5 to 8 p.m.

Local contractor receives 10 year sentence for victimizing customers

(Seguin) -- A local contractor who defrauded thousands of dollars from customers over the last 10 years is headed to prison.
Brent Beicker, owner of Brent Beicker Enterprises, was handed down the sentence by State District Judge Gary Steel. Beicker, who reportedly specializes in tile/granite flooring and countertop installation, has remained under the watchful eyes of both the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office and the FBI.

(Hewitt) - The Lifegate Falcons gave retiring head coach John Rabon the ultimate sendoff Thursday evening by capturing the second state title in school history with a 90-40 win over Granbury North Central Texas Academy in the TAPPS Six-Man Division III championship game at Panther Stadium in Hewitt.

(Seguin) – The Seguin boys basketball team’s second half rally from a 12-point deficit ultimately came up short Tuesday night in a 66-55 loss to San Antonio-Veterans Memorial at Goldie Harris Gym.
