Gonzales County Judge won't seek reelection

(Gonzales) -- A longstanding elected official in neighboring Gonzales County is not running for office again. Gonzales County Judge David Bird says after 20 years in office he has decided to retire in 2018 when his current term is up.  Bird was first elected to the post in 1998. Since then, he has run unopposed every election except for one eight years ago which he easily won.

Winner of KWED's Christmas Angel contest extends spirit of the holiday season to local family

(Seguin) -- "This year will very likely be the saddest and hardest Christmas ever for the Doege Family." This is only part of what can be found in this year's chosen letter to KWED's Christmas Angel.

Seguin High School Junior Rosemary Cramblitt entered the letter on behalf of her friend Cassidy Doege and her family. Cassidy's father, Aaron Doege was on hand Wednesday morning to hear Cramblitt as she read her winning letter live on Seguin Radio KWED.

Guadalupe County Sheriff announces second captain for agency, promotions announced

(Seguin) -- Guadalupe County Sheriff Arnold Zwicke is officially announcing the newest captain for the sheriff's office.

Lt. John Koch has been promoted to serve the position alongside Captain Jerry Rios who also was promoted earlier this year.

Area bike club delivers Christmas to a dozen area families

(New Braunfels) -- For at least a dozen families, the delivery of gifts and holiday spirit did not arrive on the back of a sleigh. Instead they were delivered by some helpful elves who prefer motorcycles, leather jackets and the open road.

(Marion) - Marion's dominance during the District 13-3A-Division I football season was reflected in the league's All-District voting, with four Bulldogs picking up major awards and a total of 20 players receiving recognition.
