Chamber encourages businesses to sign up for 2018 Showcase Seguin

(Seguin) -- The New Year will bring with it a new opportunity for businesses to engage the community in 2018. The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce thinks it has the perfect way to pair businesses up with potential customers. The chamber is still signing companies up for its annual Showcase Seguin business trade show. The show is slated for Thursday, February 22 in the Seguin-Guadalupe County Coliseum.

Kick off 2018 in downtown Seguin

(Seguin) -- Several restaurants and bars in downtown Seguin will be ready to welcome revelers for the New Year's Eve weekend. 

The Aumont Saloon will be hosting a special event the night before on December 30 or New Year's Eve Eve.  The historic hotel will be the scene for a masked ball.  The formal event will start at 8:00 p.m. and go until 1:00 a.m.  The ball is free admission.  For more information, visit the Aumont's Facebook page, www.facebook.com/aumontsaloon.

(Seguin) -- Local non-profit groups hope that many of you will end 2017 with a little extra giving. This is a popular time of year for giving, because it's the last chance for people to get tax relief on their 2017 tax returns that will be filed in 2018.

DPS releases top speeding ticket speeds

(Austin) -- Possibly because Texas is huge, Texas speeders mean business.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that of the 230 fastest speeding tickets issued in Texas this year up to the end of November, every one of them was for speeds faster than 120 miles per hour.

(Geronimo) – Navarro senior Hailey Weidenfeller was selected to the TGCA All-State volleyball team and named the District 27-4A Offensive MVP to headline a group of seven Panthers who received on-court post-season recognition in 2017.

(Geronimo) – Another successful football season at Navarro High School produced a predictably strong showing on the 13-4A-Division II All-District awards list, as the district’s head coaches recognized 16 Panthers for their efforts in 2017.

(Geronimo) - The Navarro girls basketball team pulled away in the second half to notch a 42-34 home win over Class-5A Medina Valey last Friday at the Navarro Events Center in Geronimo.
