SPD encourages safe holiday celebrations; Have a plan, stay safe this holiday weekend

(Seguin) -- Local law enforcement officials say they want everyone to make it into the new year safely. The Seguin Police Department, the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office, and state troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety Office in Seguin will all be out in force this weekend making sure that people stay safe while out on local and area roadways.

Fireworks prohibited in city of Seguin; Authorities remind public about ban on pyrotechnics

(Seguin) -- If you've driven lately just outside the Seguin city limits, you've likely noticed all of the fireworks stands that are open for business during the New Year's holiday period. It's very tempting to pull-in and buy a few Black Cats, bottle rockets and sparklers. But if you live inside the city, you need to remember that fireworks are a no-no anytime of the year.
Carlos Contreras, public information officer for the Seguin Police Department, says it's illegal to possess fireworks in the city, which means that's it's illegal to use them in the city as well.

Chamber encourages businesses to sign up for 2018 Showcase Seguin

(Seguin) -- The New Year will bring with it a new opportunity for businesses to engage the community in 2018. The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce thinks it has the perfect way to pair businesses up with potential customers. The chamber is still signing companies up for its annual Showcase Seguin business trade show. The show is slated for Thursday, February 22 in the Seguin-Guadalupe County Coliseum.

TLU women split games at SCAC/ ASC Classic

Sophomore post Katie Pesek came up with a key bucket and defensive rebound in the closing seconds of TLU’s win over LeTourneau on Friday.  
 
(Kerrville) – The Texas Lutheran women’s basketball team opened the SCAC/ ASC Classic on the Shiner campus in Kerrville with a 66-61 win over LeTourneau on Friday, but closed the weekend with an 80-55 loss to East Texas Baptist on Saturday.

TLU forward Jackson Willoughby (35) averaged 20 points in two games during the SCAC/ ASC Classic last weekend in Kerrville. 
 
(Kerrville) – The Texas Lutheran men’s basketball team came up short on both days of the SCAC/ ASC Classic at Schreiner’s Stephens Family Arena in Kerrville, falling to LeTourneau 100-97 on Friday and to East Texas Baptist 99-86 on Saturday.
