KWED Christmas Angel
The KWED Christmas Angel is searching for a deserving and special family this holiday season. Kids age 18 and under are encouraged to write a letter explaining why their family needs or deserves $500 cash. All entries must include the name of the student submitting the letter along with their address and phone number. Letters without a name or phone number will not be considered for the contest. All letters must be submitted by 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 at the KWED studios located at 609 E. Court St. in Seguin.

Blue Santa Applications
The Seguin Police Department D.A.R.E. Program is currently accepting applications for its Blue Santa toy distribution. Applications are due by 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12 and are available at the Seguin Police Department, Seguin ISD District Office, Guadalupe County Sheriff Office, Seguin Housing Authority, Ball Childhood Center, Jefferson Elementary, Guadalupe County Head Start Program, Rodriguez Elementary, Family Life Center, Seguin Community Council, and Centro Esperanza (Redwood Area). Retired Teachers Meeting
The Guadalupe County Retired Teachers Association will meet beginning at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12 at the Faith Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall located at 1326 E. Cedar St. in Seguin. The Mighty Matador Singers from Weinert Elementary will entertain with songs of the season. Bring donations for the Children's Book Project and/or the Christian Cupboard.

Jam Session

Teen Cosplay Ball
The Seguin Public Library will host a Teen Cosplay Ball to kick off Winter Break from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15. The term "cosplay" is a blend of "costume" and "play," so costumes are required. Texas Theatre Musical Review
The Stephen and Mary Birch Texas Theatre will have a special presentation of "Home for the Holidays in Seguin - A Musical Review" at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 and Saturday, Dec. 16. There will be a 2:30 performance at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17. Pre-sale tickets are $12 and $15 at the door. Silver Center Dance
The Silver Center Dance Hall will feature the music of Bob Appel from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with $7 admission for Silver Center members and $9 for non-members $9. Sandwiches and chips will be available for a light supper as well as other concessions. Team Guevara Annual Giveaway
Team Guevara, a local effort to raise funds for cancer research and prevention, will have its 5th Annual Giveaway from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 in the Cazadores parking lot located at 745 W. Kingsbury St. in Seguin. There will be used clothing, household items, toys, and more. Everything is free for those in need.

Toy Donations Needed
The Precious Life Services is seeking donations of new and gently used toys for it's No Child Without a Toy Drive. Donations are accepted at the Silver Center, Woodforest Bank, and Bank of America. Los Posadas Seguin
The Annual Christmas Las Posadas will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 beginning at Seguin City Hall located at 205 N. River St. in Seguin. The journey of Mary and Joseph on their pilgrimage to Bethlehem will be reenacted with song while strolling through downtown Seguin. The stroll will conclude in front of the Park Plaza hotel with music and refreshments. Las Posadas is for all faiths and all ages.

Blood Drive

Sunrise Lions Christmas Tree Fundraiser
The Seguin Sunrise Lions will have its Christmas Tree lot open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, noon to 8 p.m. Sundays and from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the First Presbyterian Church located at King St. and Walnut St. There will be small to 9 foot trees, tree stands, and tree preservative available for purchase. Proceeds benefit Lions scholarships and local charities.

Tax-Aide Volunteers Needed

City of Seguin Office Closures
The City of Seguin offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Dec. 26 in observance of the Christmas Holiday. Garbage/recycle will be delayed one day beginning on Christmas Day.

Fall Food Harvest
The Christian Cupboard Fall Food Harvest is underway and will end Sunday, Dec. 31. Donations may be delivered from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday and the first and third Saturdays to 516 N. Food for Fines
The Seguin Public Library will have a Food for Fines food drive to benefit the Seguin Christian Cupboard through Sunday, Dec. 31. The Seguin Police Youth Scholarship Program is offering a $500 one-year scholarship for one 2018 senior at Seguin High School.
