City of Seguin Office Closures
The City of Seguin offices will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 26 in observance of the Christmas Holiday. Garbage/recycle will be delayed one day beginning on Christmas Day.

Appraisal District Closure
The Guadalupe Appraisal District will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 26 and will re-open at 8 a .m. Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Fall Food Harvest
The Christian Cupboard Fall Food Harvest is underway and will end Sunday, Dec. 31. Donations may be delivered from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday and the first and third Saturdays to 516 N. Camp St. in Seguin. To arrange pick-up of donations, call 830-305-1808. Food and monetary donations are also being accepted at KWED located at 609 E. Court St.

Food for Fines
The Seguin Public Library will have a Food for Fines food drive to benefit the Seguin Christian Cupboard through Sunday, Dec. 31. During Food for Fines, library members may donate nonperishable items in lieu of payment for overdue fines. One nonperishable item will be equivalent to up to $2 in fines. Seguin Public Library New Year Holiday Hours
In observance of the New Year Holiday, the Seguin Public Library will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31 and will be closed Monday, Jan. 1.

Geronimo VFW New Year’s Eve Dance
The Geronimo VFW will have a New Year's Eve Dance featuring Glenn Collins and Alibi Band from 8 p.m. to midnight Sunday, Dec. 31. Champagne, black eye peas, cornbread, etc., will be served at midnight. For reservations or more information call 830-305-8829 or 830-481-6311.

Donations/Volunteers Needed
The Community Council of South Central Texas, Aging Senior Nutrition Program is seeking tax deductible donations and volunteer drivers for its Meals on Wheels America Program. Tax-Aide Volunteers Needed

Hoop Shoot Contest
The Seguin Elks Lodge #1229 will have its Annual Hoop Shoot (Free Throw) Contest beginning with registration at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at St. James Gym located at 510 S. Camp St. in Seguin. Texas Farm Bureau Scholarships
The Texas Farm Bureau is accepting applications for its S.M. True Jr. Agricultural Scholar Award, The Dick Mitchell Memorial Scholarship, the Young Farmer & Rancher (YF&R) Scholarship, the Memorial/Honorary Scholarship and its District Scholarship program. Seguin Police Youth Scholarship
The Seguin Police Youth Scholarship Program is offering a $500 one-year scholarship for one 2018 senior at Seguin High School. The application, essay, and related documents and requirements can be found online at www.seguintexas.gov/youth_scholarship or from Tricia Mayo, Counselor Secretary at Seguin High School. Items must be submitted to Tricia Mayo no later than Friday, March 2.

Mid Texas Symphony

The Rural Area Parenting Program Services (RAPPS) provides classes for co-parenting, protective parenting and life skills, anger management, and tobacco awareness. Silver Center Volunteers Needed

The pilot, a civilian contractor, safely ejected from the plane seconds before it crashed but is in serious condition after suffering traumatic injuries. Vladimir Duthiers reports.

    Michael Cohen, President Trump's former attorney and fixer, was sentenced to three years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to financial fraud and campaign finance charges.
