Investigation in home fire continues

(Seguin) -- Two local men are said to be very lucky after escaping their burning home. According to officials with the Seguin  Fire/EMS Department, the fire was reported shortly before midnight Wednesday in the 2100 block of Sherman St. Officials say the men were awakened by the fire that is believed to have started in the back of the house near the bedrooms.

City to add three firefighters through prestigious FEMA grant

(Seguin) -- The Seguin Fire Department will soon be three firefighters stronger thanks to winning a competitive FEMA grant.
 
Seguin Fire Chief Dale Skinner says The Department of Homeland Security through FEMA has approved and funded the city's application to pay for three new positions with a city match. He says the 'Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response' (SAFER) Grant will provide 75 percent of the new position salaries for two years and 35 percent for the third year for three entry-level firefighters.

Fire destroys home on North Austin Street; Investigation continues into Sunday night fire

(Seguin) -- Seguin Fire Investigators are still continuing to determine the exact cause of a fire that destroyed portions of a home on North Austin Street. Fire Chief Dale Skinner says crews were called out to the blaze early Sunday evening.

(Seguin) -- Until Friday morning, details about April 24, 2016 weren't very clear for Seguin resident Mark Wilson. Wilson, who suffered a massive heart attack at his home that day, got to thank the Seguin Fire/EMS personnel who came to his rescue -- literally giving him another chance at life.
