Parents of young children invited to check out new ''1,000 Books Before Kindergarten'' program

(Seguin) - Do you have a child under the age of 5? The Seguin Public Library wants you to join it as it launches its 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program.
 
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children. Library Director Jacki Gross says by reading just one book a night, families can reach the 1,000-book goal in three years and provide their children essential early literacy skills.

(Seguin) -- The Seguin Public Library invites all young artists ages 4-18 to share their imagination and artistic talents, under the guidance of professional and experienced artists, to create a Community Art Project.
 
The library wants to engage the creativity and talent of the community's children and teens to create a one-of-a-kind work of art that will be a legacy for the community. The art work will showcase the talent, imagination and unique visions of our young patrons.

Seguin Public Library to celebrate anniversary with live music, beer

(Seguin) -- Don't worry about being shushed this weekend at the Seguin Public Library. In fact, the library wants you to do the complete opposite by cheering, all in celebration of its one year anniversary. Although its official anniversary date is Friday, September 8, the library will be opening its doors on Saturday afternoon for a full schedule of events some of them to include live music and free beer.

Seguin Public Library helping families piece together their family trees

(Seguin) -- TV shows like "Who Do You Think You Are?" and websites like Ancestry.com have reportedly created a surge in people's interest in learning a little bit more about their family history. Always helping to guide and point people in the right direction locally is the Seguin Public Library. The library this weekend is extending those efforts by inviting the community to its Genealogy Workshop on Saturday.

Seguin Public Library receives grant for integrating technology learning for teens; Teen Maker space now possible thanks to Union Pacific Foundation

(Seguin) -- Seguin's new public library is on its way to being even more teenager friendly. That's all thanks to a recent $7,500 donation from the Union Pacific Foundation to the library. Youth Services Librarian Hannah Farmer says the library is excited to receive the funds in hopes of creating a Teen Maker space program. Farmer says the money will first only expand the offerings it currently has for those kids ages 12 to 18.
