Guadalupe County orders lifting of outdoor burn ban

(Seguin) -- Recent rains have helped to lift the outdoor burn ban in the unincorporated areas of Guadalupe County. The order was announced Tuesday following reports of three to four inches of precipitation in the area.

Guadalupe County to host public hearing on tax rate during regular meeting

(Seguin) -- Guadalupe County property owners will get another chance to sound off on the proposed tax rate for the coming fiscal year. The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court will host its second public hearing on the proposed tax rate rate during this morning's meeting.

Guadalupe County extends feral hog management program

(Seguin) -- Although it's dove season, the hunt is still on for wild hogs in Guadalupe County. The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court has chosen to extend its current feral hog bounty program. The county thanks to a grant awarded from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Wildlife Services kicked off the program in mid July. Although the program ended on Aug. 31, the county this week has chosen to continue the program. The program offers $5 for each pig harvested in Guadalupe County.

Correction: Cope votes yes on bounty program, Wolverton no

(Seguin) -- A correction needs to be made to the feral hog story that we aired yesterday. The county is still moving forward with its new bounty program, and the vote to approve the program was 4-1, but we wrongly identified the lone no vote. Precinct 4 Commissioner Judy Cope had some concernd with starting the program, and referenced the problems experienced when the county offered a bounty on coyotes, but she did not vote against the feral hog bounty. Cope says too many people in her area support it, and she voted for it. The "no" vote actually came from Precinct 3 Commissioner Jim Wolverton.
