As part of its proactive approach to an active shooter event and the district's overall safety, the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees Tuesday approved an architectural and engineering design services contract with Pfluger Associates for the construction of security vestibules at both Jim Barnes and A.J. Briesemeister middle schools. |

Mass school shootings, like the one that happened earlier this month in Parkland, Florida has prompted the school district to share the plans that have been put into place locally for the safety of all students, teachers and employees.

|(Seguin) -- School safety and security is expected to be among the things to be reviewed during tonight's meeting of the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees. In light of recent school shooting incidents occurring across the country, district officials say the "current and planned safety and security measures of the district" need to be communicated." Trustees will get to hear the school safety and security report for the district.|

(Seguin) -- When Mark Weber, an English teacher at Seguin High School, completed his master's degree in educational leadership at WGU Texas he was excited and proud but he had no idea that he would be Western Governors University's 100,000th graduate. Weber claimed that 100,000th spot among all others students who have continued their education through the online, nonprofit university established by 19 U.S. Governors 21 years ago. More

(Seguin) -- The Seguin ISD is looking at the possibility of being designated as a District of Innovation for the 2018-2019 school year.
Jason Schmidt, Seguin ISD's assistant superintendent of learning and leadership services, recently brought forth the proposal to members of the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees. Schmidt says the 84th Texas Legislative Session helped to provide this opportunity for Texas public school districts. He says the designation in essence gives the local district more freedom and flexibility when implementing innovative learning experiences or educational strategies for its students. More
