Lievens wins Seguin City Council seat; Voters approve constitutional amendments

(Seguin) -- The vacancy on the Seguin City Council has officially been filled. Jim Lievens was the winner of Tuesday's District 3 race. Lievens will now fill the one year unexpired term of former Councilman Phil Seidenberger.
 
Lievens says the win is bittersweet. It came on the same day that a funeral was held for Seidenberger, who died last week. Seidenberger resigned earlier this year due to health reasons, and had offered his support for Lievens.

Today marks general election day in Texas; Seguin City council, constitutional amendments among items on ballot

(Seguin) -- It's election day in the Lone Star State. Texas voters will be heading to the polls to consider the fate of seven proposed amendments to the state's constitution.  A list of the amendments and what they are expected to accomplish can be found in today's edition of the Seguin Daily News.

Pull-up, get groceries; HEB introduces new Curbside program to Seguin

(Seguin) -- Seguin's HEB store is making it easier for you to get the groceries that you need. The store on Monday officially opened up its new curbside pickup service.  Brianna Hunter, operations leader at the local store, is overseeing the operation of the new service. Hunter says they are excited to be able to offer this to their local customers.

Beloved council member, businessman dies; Phil Seidenberger remembered for his many contributions to community

(Seguin) -- The name Phil Seidenberger has held a number of titles over the years in Seguin. He was chairman of the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, chairman of the SEDC Board, chairman of the Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation Board, he was executive-vice president at CMC Steel Texas, and he most recently served on the Seguin City Council.
Seidenberger was also a devoted husband, father and grandfather -- as well as a good friend to many in the community. Seidenberger died late Thursday night. He had been battling cancer for months.

Early voting ends Friday for Tuesday's District 3 Seguin Council election

(Seguin) -- While the community absorbs the sad news of former Councilman Phil Seidenberger's death on Thursday night, the election to find his replacement enters its last day of early voting. Four men are vying to fill Seidenberger's unexpired term. Seidenberger resigned his seat earlier this year due to health concerns. Those on the ballot include Jim Green, Jeremiah Arevalo, Dennis Estes, and Jim Lievens.
