(Seguin) -- Seguin ISD Superintendent Matthew Gutierrez is further explaining his views on the current state of the district, and how the district is working with the community to map out plans for the district's future.

Dr. Gutierrez recently talked with the Seguin Daily News and radio station KWED about his inaugural "State of the District" address held last Monday at Seguin High School. The address covered a great deal of ground. It focused on his baseline assessment of the district, the current work being done in local classrooms, and the process that's been started to develop a strategic plan for district.

Seguin High School thespians succeed at state festival

(Seguin) - Members of the Seguin High School Theatre Arts program attended the annual Texas Thespian Festival in Grapevine Nov. 15-17. At the event, Amber Mawande-Spytek received a Musical Theatre scholarship to the tune of $1,000.00. She also received a superior rating and qualified for nationals in Solo Musical.

(Seguin) -- Seguin ISD's top administrator is preparing for tonight's inaugural Seguin ISD "State of the District" address. The event designed to gather the community for a look into local schools and to help educate the public about the district's performance is scheduled for tonight from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the new Seguin High School Performing Arts Center (PAC).

(Seguin) -- The issue of "lunch shamming" has come to light in the Seguin ISD. Due to questions and concerns raised by some of those in the community and by new administrative officials, the district discussed the issue of its current lunch line policy during Tuesday's school board meeting.
         
The discussion is said to have been prompted by not only current Texas Legislation, which hopes to soon provide an update to public schools on new measures, but also because of what is reportedly being experienced at local schools.

Seguin ISD removes interim tag from new Ball ECC principal

(Seguin) -- Laura Flack can officially call Ball Early Childhood Center her new home. Flack, who has served as interim principal for the pre-k campus was named as the permanent school principal during Tuesday's meeting of the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees.
