Seguin PD nabs career criminal; Suspect connected to burglaries in SA, Dallas, Houston

(Seguin) -- There will be fewer 18-wheeler burglaries in the state of Texas thanks to a thorough investigation by the Seguin Police Department.
Carlos Contreras, public information officer and crime prevention officer for the Seguin Police Department, says local detectives recently arrested Patrick Joyner, 66, of San Antonio for his connection to big rig burglaries along the IH 10 and 35 corridors.

Community members invited to sign up SPD's for Citizens Police Academy

(Seguin) -- Residents who want to gain a better understanding of the Seguin Police Department will soon have the opportunity. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2018 SPD Citizens Police Academy.
The annual ten-week academy starts Thursday, March 29th at 6 p.m. in the training room on the first floor of the Seguin Police Department. Each class will run approximately three hours. The last class night will be May 31st and the graduation is scheduled for the first week of June.

Seguin PD urges caution against slider theft

(Seguin) -- The Seguin Police Department does not want you to  fall victim to "slider theft."  PD officials say they have had some recent activity on this type of theft which involves victims at gas pumps and unlocked car doors. "Sliders" are suspects who slide into a victim's car by going through a rolled down window or unlocked car, while the victim is pumping gas or inside the gas station. Once inside, they say items such as purses, electronics and money is taken. PD officials say all it takes is a few seconds. More

Domestic disturbance turns to gun fire, man shot

(Seguin) -- Family violence has led to one person being shot. Seguin Police officials say the shooting was reported just before 5 a.m. Monday. Seguin Police officers were dispatched to the 600 block of East Donegan St. for a domestic disturbance with reported shots fired. Upon arrival, officers say they located a female in her late 20's and her 37-year-old husband.

Drivers urged to obey Move Over/Slow Down law while traveling; Seguin PD issues warning following multiple car collision on I-10

(Seguin) -- The Seguin Police Department is again reminding drivers about a state law -- a law that if all drivers were engaged should not have caused a seven car collision on Interstate 10.

Carlos Contreras, public information officer for the Seguin PD, says the department is bringing awareness to the Texas Department of Public Safety's Move Over/Slow Down law which "requires motorists to move over or slow down when certain vehicles are stopped on the side of the road with emergency lights activated."
