Mexican water utilities officials visit Seguin to see local operations

(Seguin) -- The city of Seguin recently hosted its counterparts from Monclova, Mexico in a discussion and tour of how to keep the city in operation. Water Utilities Superintendent Rod Ramirez and Utility Engineer David Rabago recently welcomed the individuals and spent a day touring city facilities, meeting staff and “sharing ideas.” Ramirez says the friendship was triggered during a recent trip to Las Vegas. He says after extending an invitation to visit Seguin, he was surprised that the group immediately took advantage of the opportunity to come on over.

Starcke Park East trail, disc golf users cautioned around wastewater project

(Seguin) -- The city's latest project could impact Pecan Bottom Trail and disc golf course users in Max Starcke Park East. Construction began on Monday to install a wastewater force main from the Stockdale Highway Bridge to the Walnut Branch Wastewater Treatment Plant. City officials say this construction will be a temporary inconvenience for park users.

Home of the world's largest pecan, Seguin has been a favorite to locals and a must see stop for thousands of visitors and the weekend long event celebrates our famous nut. The celebration is spread out all over Seguin and includes celebrations of Seguin's heritage and history. Pecan Fest Heritage Days has a little something for everyone, for the foodie nut to the shopping nut to the history nut.

City to begin discussing future plans for old public library building

(Seguin) -- Seguin Mayor Don Keil says the time has come to figure out what to do with the old Seguin Public Library building on East College Street. The library building served Seguin area patrons for decades, but it closed when the city built a new larger, state-of-the-art library on West Nolte Street in downtown Seguin.
