Seguin ISD orders May 4 bond election

(Seguin) -- Seguin ISD voters will soon be headed to the polls to consider approval of a number of facilities improvements district wide. The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees on Tuesday unanimously called for a $64.7 million bond election. The election is slated for Saturday, May 4. The overall price tag includes the six recommended projects forwarded to the school board by members of the Seguin ISD Facilities Committee. Voters will consider all six projects together. That list of projects includes $39 million for the renovation of A.J. Briesemeister Middle School; $17.3 for a new Matador Stadium; $3.9 million for the partial renovation of Jefferson Avenue Elementary; $1.8  million for outdoor ADA accessible playscapes and multi-sensory play areas plus canopies at each Seguin ISD Elementary School; $1 million for the land purchase to replace McQueeney Elementary School and $1.7 million for various campus improvements to including things such as drainage, HVAC, plumbing and furniture.

Trustees talk May 4 bond election Tuesday night

(Seguin) -- The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees tonight is expected to officially call for a multi-million dollar bond election to be held on May 4.  The bond package is expected to include $64.7 million in improvements, but it could be as high as $69.7 million if the school board decides to add new baseball and softball fields to the list of projects.
