Donations still being accepted in support of Navarro's Hurricane Relief effort for friends in Refugio

(Geronimo) -- The Navarro ISD has exceeded the $5,000 mark in its efforts to raise money to support the people of Refugio. The town of Refugio was hard hit by Hurricane Harvey last month, and several Navarro ISD residents have been stepping up to help support the town.  They have been raising money that will be donated to Refugio ISD officials during a special ceremony of tonight's football game between Navarro and Refugio.

Navarro ISD to roll out red carpet for Refugio ISD during Friday night matchup

(Geronimo) -- The Navarro ISD this Friday will finish up what it started with the community of Refugio, one of its coastal friends, who also happens to be this week's football matchup.

Shortly after Hurricane Harvey rolled into South Texas in late August, a couple of Panther Posse members successfully collected $5,000 plus generators from the local community and took the Navarro gifts over to their counterparts in South Texas. Many thought that might be the end of the interaction between the two communities, but that has not been the case.

School bell rings in the Navarro ISD; Today marks the first day of school for students in the Navarro ISD

(Geronimo) -- It's back to hitting the books today for Navarro ISD students. The Navarro ISD is among the districts heading back to class this Monday. The district is launching its school year one week earlier than most other districts across the state of Texas including the Seguin ISD.

Navarro ISD offering online registration this week

(Geronimo) -- Online registration is also open this week for all Navarro ISD families. District officials say all families must fill out new enrollment forms each year. The Navarro High School computer lab will be open and available to families between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. beginning today and running through Thursday.

Local districts release first round STAAR scores for 5th and 8th graders

(Seguin) -- The first round scores for the fifth and eighth grade math and reading STAAR tests have been released. The Texas Education Agency has released the overall statewide student performance on the exams, and local school districts are also providing the data necessary to show how well local kids performed when compared to their peers across the sate.
