Seguin PD warns drivers to obey school zone speed limits

(Seguin) -- Expect to continue to see the presence of Seguin Police Officers before and after school in the Seguin ISD.  The Seguin Police Department is issuing a warning to drivers in its attempt to keep kids safe at all local campuses. Carlos Contreras, the public information officer for the Seguin PD, says with school back in session, they want to make sure that everyone remains safe around local schools. He says motorists especially need to be paying attention to their speed in local school zones.

Let the collecting, trading begin; Seguin PD handing out its ''Cop Cards'' to local children

(Seguin) -- Watch out Topps and Upper Deck, there's a new trading card hitting the streets. In hopes of adopting a new approach to engaging kids while out in the community, the Seguin Police Department has officially launched its "Cop Cards."

Carlos Contreras, public information and crime prevention officer, says officers have begun carrying their own personal trading card. He says it's like a baseball card but for police.

Seguin PD pays tribute to all mothers with special social media video; Social media video captures a Mother's Day ride along with local officer

(Seguin) -- They don't wear a badge but at home, law and order typically begins with mom. That might be perhaps why the Seguin Police Department felt it was most fitting to launch a special Mother's Day video on its Facebook page on Sunday. Starring and sharing the details behind that video is Carlos Contreras, the public information officer for the Seguin PD. In the video, Officer Contreras is seen doing his job while mom, RosaLinda, tags along for the ride.

Plans in place for 14th Annual Badges, Bikes & Tykes event

(Seguin) -- It's never too early for families to mark their calendars for the annual Seguin Police Department Badges, Bikes and Tykes event.  The free family event is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Max Starcke Park East.
 
Carlos Contreras, public information officer for the police department, says because weekend's are already pretty busy for families, he wanted to make sure they had every opportunity to stop by this Saturday for a free day of fun with members of the Seguin Police Department and Seguin Fire/EMS Department.

(Seguin) -- The Seguin Police Department is still looking for answers in the double homicide that claimed the life of a mother and her adult son almost two weeks ago.
