(Seguin) -- Celebrating the Fourth of July during KWED's Freedom Fiesta might result in you driving away in a brand new motorcycle or taking home $10,000 worth of gold. The celebration is slated for Thursday, July 3 in downtown Seguin.
First, Seguin Radio KWED is teaming up with the Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation to host the Golden Opportunity Raffle. A limited number of tickets will be sold at a chance of winning $10,000 worth of gold. All proceeds raised will go to help support the foundation and its services to patients throughout the year. Tickets are $100 each. They can be purchased by mailing a check in an amount totaling the number of tickets being purchased payable to GRMF at 1215 Court St, Seguin, Texas 78155. Individuals are also advised to note "gold" on the check. They can also purchase tickets by calling 830-401-7375 or by stopping by the GRMC Gift Shop.
Second, the Seguin Youth Services organization will continue its tradition of hosting a motorcycle raffle during the celebration.
Marcos Saenz, the assistant director of SYS, says the non-profit group is excited about offering this year's prize.
"It's actually a black brand new Harley Davidson sportster 883. It's really nice, it's got a good little package on there. It's fuel injected. It's probably one of the best bikes out there, as being a sportster," said Saenz.
Employees at First Commercial Bank show their support to Seguin Youth Services by helping sell tickets for its annual motorcycle raffle. The bike drawing is slated for this year's KWED Freedom Fiesta. Individuals will also get a chance to walk away with $10,000 in gold during the Golden Opportunity Raffle also being hosted by KWED and the Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation. Tickets are $100 each and will be available at the event. They can also be purchased in advance at the GRMC Gift Shop. Photo by Andie Rangel-Jenner.
Raffle tickets are $100 each. Saenz says typically two to three hundred tickets are sold in order to give everyone great odds of winning.
"One of the things is if you win it, you have an option of taking it back and buying something bigger or you can turn it into a cash prize," said Saenz.
The bike is currently available for viewing in the lobby of First Commercial Bank. Bank President Mark Long says the raffle is a major fundraiser for the local group. He says the bank is always thrilled to assist the organization anyway that it can.
"We believe in giving back to our community and supporting these organizations in any way that we can. This is an exciting way to do it. I have a Harley personally. I love bikes and the customers seem to get a kick out of coming over and looking at the bike and buying tickets. That's why we're in this thing is to raise money and help them out," said Long.
Raffle tickets for the motorcycle are available for purchase at First Commercial Bank or at Seguin Youth Services. The raffle drawing is planned for July 3 during KWED's Freedom Fiesta. Individuals do not need to be present to win.
The KWED Freedom Fiesta will be held from 6:30 p.m. to midnight Thursday, July 3. The event will include a kiddie parade, food vendors, kids games, a beer garden, arts and crafts plus live music by Clint Taft and the Buck Wild Band.
