(Seguin) -- Seguin police detectives are investigating an incident at Wal-Mart that ended with an officer shooting a dog.
City spokesman Scott Packard released a statement saying the incident occurred around 9:00 Monday night at the Wal-Mart on State Highway 123 Bypass. Employees at the store had called police about trespassers at the store. The officer responding found two men suspected of trespassing on the property. One suspect had outstanding warrants and was taken into custody. The second suspect was arrested on a trespassing charge. During the arrest, a dog believed to belong to one of the suspects lunged and bared teeth at the officer.
Packard says the officer fired one shot, striking the dog. The animal ws still alive when Seguin Animal Services arrived on the scene. The city has not yet provided an update on the dog's condition.
