(Seguin) -- Today is your last chance to secure a spot on the ballot for Seguin City Council.
On Friday, two candidates confirmed a contested race for District 8. Up until that day, no one had filed for the position currently being served by Councilman Bob Pees. Filing for the position were local Business Owners Edward Davila, Sr. and Mark Herbold. Pees will complete his second term in November and therefore is not eligible for reelection due to term limits.
In District 3, Phil Seidenberger, remains the only candidate on the ballot thus far. Seidenberger, last week, announced his decision to run after it was known that current Councilman Nick Carrillo would not be seeking re-election. Carrillo has since endorsed Seidenberger's candidacy.
District 5 Councilman Carlos Medrano and District 7 Councilwoman Donna Dodgen have both filed for their seats, and may run unopposed unless someone files by today's deadline.
People interested in being on the ballot may still pick up an application packet at the front desk of Seguin City Hall. Those filing must live in the district that they wish to serve. The filing deadline is 5 p.m. today. The election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4.
