(Seguin) -- Today marks day one of the annual Guadalupe County Fair and PRCA Rodeo. The fair runs through Sunday at the Guadalupe County Fairgrounds.

The schedule of events begin when gates open at 5 p.m. There is no cost until 8 p.m. Admission from 8 to 11 p.m. will be $7 per person. Children 10 and under get in free. The fair will again include the traditional carnival rides, food booths and trade fair and expo in the Seguin-Guadalupe County Coliseum.

New this year will be a wine garden. Fair Association President Gay Lynn Olsovsky, says the fair association is excited about offering this wine tasting feature highlighting products from right here in Texas. She says the wine garden is being done in spirit of October being Texas Wine Month.

"We have a wine tasting area within the exhibit hall of the Women's Building where you can purchase tickets and taste different wines and you will also have a chance to purchase wines if you like some of the wines that you have tasted," said Olsovsky.

Helping to kick-off the four day fair schedule will be the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce. The chamber will be hosting its monthly mixer in the dance pavilion. Food, beverages, prizes and music will all be made available. The chamber mixer is scheduled today from 5 to 7 p.m.

Families are also reminded about this year's 11th annual pumpkin decorating contest. Entries will be accepted today from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. inside of the Seguin-Guadalupe County Coliseum. Entries may be for painted or carved pumpkins. Participants ages four and five may only enter painted/decorated pumpkins. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top entries. Judging will be based on pumpkinality, orginality  and creativity. The contest is free.

The PRCA Rodeo gets underway with pre-rodeo events at 7 p.m. The rodeo will follow at 7:30 p.m. Included is the mutton bustin' contest at 7:45 p.m. This year's rodeo will wrap up with "The One Arm Bandit." The specialty act has been described by the rodeo cowboy association as "guilty of stealing the show."

Free rodeo tickets for tonight's event are still available as part of KWED Listener Appreciation Night. Tickets can be picked up at Wyatt Arp Chrysler Dodge Jeep or at Palm Harbor Homes. Otherwise, tickets are $14 pre-sale or $18 at the gate. Children 10 years and under are free. Pre-sale tickets for each night of the rodeo can be purchased until 5 p.m. Saturday at Wyatt Arp, D&D Farm and Ranch or at the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce.

Wrapping up each night of the fair will be a free dance. Taking the stage tonight will be the BootStrap Band. The live music will be provided from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. in the dance pavilion.
