(Seguin) -- Seguin is preparing for a chock full of nutty family fun during this weekend's Pecan Fest and Heritage Days. That's according to Jillian Boldway, the executive director of the Seguin Convention and Visitors Bureau. Boldway says the events are numerous and are being offered at several different locations around town with a free shuttle to most events.

"Central Park is where the fun begins with Trade Days, art activities for kids, live entertainment, gunslingers, pecan treats, HEB Texas Vanilla Seguin Pecan Ice Cream, pecan photo booth, car show, antique fire equipment, scarecrow displays in the shops around the square, and pumpkin patch at First United Methodist. Hop on the Go Nuts shuttle to other events including Sebastopol House for free tours of the historic mansion and Wilson Pottery show, Heritage Village for pecan treats and a quilt show at the First Church, Teatro Cultural Arts Center for a Conjunto Festival, the Pape Nutcracker Museum to see more than 8,000 nutcrackers from all over the world, and the Big Red Barn for agricultural exhibits and animals, antique farm equipment, a turkey and dressing lunch, hay rides, heritage village tours, live entertainment, a salute to Jose Antonio Navarro, pecan bake show and arts and crafts vendors," said Boldway.
Boldway says events on Saturday kick off bright and early with the annual Tour de Pecan Bike Ride sponsored by Wish For Our Heroes and will cap off with a party celebrating the birthday of the city's namesake, Col. Juan N. Seguin.
"Also on Saturday, October 25, is the Pecan Pie Bake-Off at the Power Plant Texas Grill, a Juan Seguin celebration with a gun-salute at the burial site, wine and honey mead tasting at Blue Lotus Winery, and in Central Park from 6:00-9:30 p.m. is the “Hats Off to Seguin” party which includes live entertainment by Big Daddy Dean and URBAN-15, a festive hat parade, and food. Bring your decorated hat, blankets, lawn chairs and favorite drinks," said Boldway.
Boldway says one of the most anticipated events is the historic ghost tours throughout Downtown Seguin.
"This year’s "There's a Ghost Story Here" historic ghost tours will feature Sebastopol House where attendees will hear its ghostly tale and see the mysterious dungeon, then be shuttled to the Mosheim Mansion where Victorian-costumed guides will tell haunting tales as guests tour the historic home. Ghost tours will be held on both Friday and Saturday evenings, Oct. 24 and 25. Tickets are $10 cash and can be purchased at the information booth in Central Park," said Boldway.
Tours, which begin at the Sebastopol House, are at 7 p.m. 8 p.m and 9 p.m. The tour is for people 10 years old and older. Kids 10 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets in advance can be purchased at the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce.
This year's Pecan Fest schedule will also roll right into Sunday. Events include the Saints Alive Cemetery Tour, Pecan Classic Golf Tournament, a Polka Fest with BBQ sausage and cloggers, and wine and honey mead tasting at Blue Lotus Winery.
