(Seguin) -- The 7th Annual Denim & Diamonds fundraiser might just prove lucky for those wishing to support the Seguin Education Foundation. Diamonds are again on the top of the list for this year's featured raffle. The event is slated for Saturday at the Seguin-Guadalupe County Coliseum.
SEF Director Katie Edwards says the night of dinner, prizes and live entertainment is the largest fundraiser for the education foundation. She says this "country chic affair" has quickly become a "community favorite."
"Denim & Diamonds, we have the similar format, which everyone seems to love, which is at 6 p.m, we start with a cocktail hour provided by American Bank and some appetizers. Then we have a seated family style three course meal which is very interesting. Not everyone does that in the Coliseum, but it brings out large portions of amazing beef tenderloin, pork tenderloin, side salad and then, we have desserts from Sweet Treats and HEB. The dinner is provided by Nash Catering. We also have for some entertainment and some fun things for the evening, we will be having a DJ this year. We have a live auction, a silent auction, of course our signature diamond raffle, but then , we have a raffle just for the people who attend the event, which is a wine cooler or Yeti cooler raffle," said Edwards.
Edwards says the main event, of course, is the raffle. She says a girl's best friend will again be up for grabs.
"This year, the large prize for the event is going to be a fashion diamond ring with a canary diamond center. Total karat weight is one karat and the value of it is $5,700, but it is unique, because it doesn't look like anything else and it has a gorgeous emerald cut canary diamond in the middle of it. We also have on the raffle -- a pair of diamond earrings, a$500 VISA gift card and $200 Target gift card," said Edwards.
Coming off the hype of the recent large Texas Lotto games, Edwards says the odds of each $20 raffle ticket will be much greater.
"On average, we sell less than 500 tickets. It varies by year, but the odds are incredible, especially since there's four prizes that can be won," said Edwards.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Coliseum. Event tickets are $45 per person. The cost includes unlimited beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages, a catered meal plus a chance to win door prizes. Diamond raffle tickets alone are $20 and can be purchased at Gift and Gourmet, Keepers or at Seguin Radio KWED.
