(Seguin) -- Two people have tossed their hats into the ring to become the next member of the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees. Glenda Moreno and Louis Ramirez are both seeking an appointment to the District 7 seat on the school board.
Moreno is a retired educator and administrator who spent dozens of years working in the Seguin ISD. Ramirez served as the executive director of the Community Council of South-Central Texas for years. He now serves in the top administrative position at the Seguin-Guadalupe County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
The school board is expected to consider appointing one of the candidates during its meeting tomorrow night in Oak Park Mall. It's expected to meet in closed session to discuss each candidate, and then take action on the appointment during open session. The meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Seguin ISD Board Room in Oak Park Mall.
The person appointed to the seat will fill it until an election can be held in November. The seat was vacated by longtime Trustee Nancy Ayotte, who stepped down in August due to illness. She had more than three years remaining in her term at the time of her resignation.
