(Seguin) -- Calling all young artists. Today is the day to submit your artwork during the 8th Annual Elementary and Middle School Art Show hosted by the Seguin Art League.
Art League member Roger Betschler, says the contest is open to kids from the first to eighth grades.
"We divided it into elementary, one through five and middle school, six through eight. We contacted a lot of schools in the area. Of course, the advertising, you know, it's kind of like, let's see who turns in some artwork," said Betschler.
Betschler says the group is always thrilled to see the entries that are submitted. He says entries in most media are being accepted.
"We were advertising many different media from sculpture, like doing things in clay or wood to painting, acrylic, oil, water colors, collage, it's really open," said Betschler.
A reception and awards ceremony will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. He says there will be plenty of prizes including 10 $20 winners for grades first through 5th. In grades 6th through 8th, there will be a $50 first prize, a $40 second prize, a $30 third prize and four $20 honorable mentions.
"We have some real nice prizes for individual kids. Then, we are doing something different this year. One school will get a nice award also looking at all their work as a group," said Betschler.
The winning school will be awarded $100. All rules and entry forms are available at www.seguinartleague.com
. Entries will be accepted today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Mosaic Community Center located at 1201 W. Court St.
