Hispanic Chamber honors, recognizes business leaders, community members

(Seguin) -- Several businesses and community leaders were recently acknowledged for their continued efforts to improve the quality of life in Seguin. Several honorees were recognized during the Annual  Seguin-Guadalupe County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet.

Receiving the Academic Merit Award was Leticia Villarreal, retired Seguin ISD educator. This year's Corporate Community Service Award was extended to CPS Energy.
 
The Corporate Business Award was also presented this year to Phil Wuest, of Pic n Pac Convenience Stores.
 
Receiving the Daniel Rodriguez Community Service Award was Seguin Police Department Officer Gerald "Jerry" Guerrero. The Pete Garza Humanitarian Award was also extended to Ronnie Gerth.
 
Former KWED on-air personality Rosita Ornelas was also on hand to help extend her annual media award to Albert Flores, WOAI, News 4 meteorologist.
 
Named as this year's Business Man of the Year was Pablo Sepeda of Taco Tejano. Honored with the Business Woman of the Year Award was Nellie Sanchez of Precious Angels.
 
Local couple Nancy and Craig Russell, of SS American Memorial were presented with this year's Patriot Award.
A special recognition award was also extended to Elizabeth Braun of Seguin Chevrolet.
 
This year's Juan Seguin Award went to Adrian Davila of Davila's Bar-B-Que for his role in various national food TV shows and for his representation of the city of Seguin.
 
Also surprised for her efforts was Isabel Lara. Lara was recognized with this year's Chairwoman's Award for Outstanding Service.
The program which included a catered dinner plus music by Bobby Gonzales and Le'Duece was held Friday night at the Seguin-Guadalupe County Coliseum.
