(Gonzales) --- Recreationalists who take advantage of an area lake are encouraged to listen to the latest information regarding some damage that recently was reported. Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority officials tonight will host a town hall meeting to discuss Lake Wood (Gonzales).
GBRA spokesperson LaMarriol Smith, says GBRA officials plan to brief the public about the situation with the gate.
"Apparently during the rain event last week, the dam at Lake Wood sustained damage to one of its gates and it malfunctioned while spilling water. Hydro crews went out and inspected the gate, but were unable to initiate repairs to make the gate operational. Hydro staff then consulted with an engineering firm to try to determine the full extent of the damage, what options might be available to resolve the problem and what those options would cost," said Smith.
Smith says although in Gonzales, many visitors are from the Seguin and Guadalupe County area. She says because of its unknown future, everyone is invited to learn the latest.
The meeting gets underway at 6 p.m. today at the Lake Wood (H-5) Dam. Officials request that attendees come to the north side of the Lake Wood (H-5) Dam also known as Lake Wood Park.
