(Seguin) -- A member of the Seguin ISD administrative team is electing to retire. Former Seguin ISD Deputy Superintendent Guadalupe Gorordo has submitted her resignation. Gorordo's title was recently changed by new Superintendent Matthew Gutierrez.
Dr. Gorordo's resignation is expected to be acknowledged and approved during tonight's meeting of the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees. The resignation will go into effect at the end of the school year. Dr. Gorordo began serving the district in 2014.
The Seguin ISD tonight will also look at a new plan to get kids to school. The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees tonight is expected to learn more about this year's new district wide attendance initiative, "Missing Matadors Matter." District officials say although the Seguin ISD has always worked on attendance, they are hoping this new campaign raises even more community awareness and involvement regarding the importance of attending school. District officials say "when students are absent, they miss valuable instruction and it negatively impacts district funding." The message behind the campaign will include brochures, posters for local businesses and school campuses, partnerships with businesses to advertise the initiative, an attendance tip line and media support.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. today in the Seguin ISD Board Room located inside of Oak Park Mall.
