(Seguin) -- Thirteen hours of fundraising are on tap this weekend for the victims of the Sutherland Springs church shooting. The Double Diamond Saloon & Dancehall will host a day of barbecue and music for First Baptist Church Sutherland Springs. The fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at the tavern formerly, The Country Cabaret.
Owner Dee Dee Brite says the dance hall has teamed up with Family Gap DBA Encounter Hope, an area non-profit group to host the event. She says the tragedy at the small church earlier this month hit too close to home to do nothing. She says the tragedy also claimed the life of one of her former employees Tara McNulty who worked for her over the summer. She says together, all proceeds raised with go directly into the hands of the Church Pastor Frank Pomeroy of Seguin.
"Actually, I just said that we are going to give them directly to Pastor Pomeroy and the church. I feel like they (know) who needs the help. I don't want to give it to one person. There are too many people who need help," said Brite.
Ten bands are all slated to take the stage throughout the day. Bands include but are not limited to the Cavaliers, Brian Black, Logan Ryan, Musica, Larry Paul and the Mudcatz. Brite says different genres of music will help to entertain the crowds. Barbecue plates are $8 each while raffle tickets are one for $5 or five for $20.
The Double Diamond is located at 839 FM 467 in Seguin.
