(Seguin) -- Seguin ISD's top administrator is preparing for tonight's inaugural Seguin ISD "State of the District" address. The event designed to gather the community for a look into local schools and to help educate the public about the district's performance is scheduled for tonight from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the new Seguin High School Performing Arts Center (PAC).
Superintendent Matthew Gutierrez has planned the event as a component of his initial 90 Day Plan and eventual Strategic Plan for the Seguin ISD. Dr. Gutierrez says he encourages all families and community members to attend.
"(It's) an opportunity to update the community on the status of the 90 Day Plan that we have followed since I began my service in Seguin ISD over the summer. I've hosted the event at previous districts as a means to share information with the public. I am looking forward to have the Seguin ISD community in the PAC to learn about our progress and the road that lies ahead," said Dr. Gutierrez.
Educate Seguin is the sponsor for today's event. As reported earlier, Group President Bob Stephens stated that tonight will all be about Dr. Gutierrez and his vision for the district. Stephens says they are pleased to be able to help host the event and says all content will be entirely provided by the district. He also adds that a few questions from those in attendance will follow the presentation.
This will be the district's second attempt to hold the event. The originally scheduled presentation was postponed earlier this month following the tragic loss of a Seguin ISD student during the Sutherland Springs shooting at First Baptist Church.
Other groups wishing to sponsor a future State of the District presentation is asked to contact the Seguin ISD at 830-401-8609.
