(Seguin) -- Two local men are said to be very lucky after escaping their burning home. According to officials with the Seguin Fire/EMS Department, the fire was reported shortly before midnight Wednesday in the 2100 block of Sherman St. Officials say the men were awakened by the fire that is believed to have started in the back of the house near the bedrooms.
Fire Chief Dale Skinner says the men were lucky to get out alive considering there were no smoke detectors in the home. He said it was definitely a "deadly situation."
Fire investigators say while they are still trying to figure out the exact cause of the fire, they do believe it was accident in nature.
The investigation into the incident continues.
