|(Seguin) -- Seguin's newest manufacturing facility is officially open for business. American Colors, Inc. has announced the opening of its new manufacturing facility at 5075 State Hwy. 123 North. The facility is located in the same business complex as United Alloy and Glass Chalk. |
City of Seguin officials say this marks American Colors' fourth U.S based manufacturing facility in addition to a facility in Shanghai, China.
Seguin Economic Development Director Josh Schneuker says the city started working closely with the company over the summer. He says thankfully, that partnership has developed into this new home for the company.
"They were able to secure a lease facility here in Seguin. It's about 12,500 square feet of space that they'll be using for manufacturing, warehousing, laboratory and office (space) as well but they are just adding to our manufacturing base in this community. It's really outstanding the amount of manufacturers that we have in Seguin -- the amount of products that we make right here in our own backyard and ship around the world. It's really phenomenal if you think about it," said Schneuker.
Joel Lynn, who brings over 30 years of experience, will be managing the operation. Matthew Kosior, executive vice president and chief operating officer for American Colors, says this additional location will allow the company to continue its growth within its core markets while providing the same level of superior customer service for which it is known for.
Schneuker says American Colors, Inc. is a manufacturer of high quality liquid colorants and intermediates for the composites, coatings, agriculture, and plastics industries.
"So they manufacture different liquid pigments and intermediates -- their primary customers are the automotive industry so these pigments are going to automotive suppliers and are used in their products like different products that have plastics and other vinyls and coatings and things like that. So given that there is a large automobile industry presence within the San Antonio area -- given that Toyota is here and a lot of Toyota's Tier One suppliers are in the area -- they work with a lot of those companies and this facility here in Seguin is kind of a support facility to that whole eco-system that is in place around here," said Schneuker.
According to company officials, Seguin's strategic location is an integral part of its expansion strategy to support its customer base in the south central region of the United States, as well as an opportunity to gain a presence in this region.
Schneuker says Seguin, no doubt, is the ideal location to help reach that goal.
"We were just happy to work with a prospect, secure the investment, the job creation of Seguin -- our proximity to the Port of Houston, a lot of other different large manufacturing operations really helps solidify Seguin as a viable option for American Colors so we are really excited to have them here," said Schneuker.
Schneuker says the facility currently operates with seven employees. He says that number is expected to grow as the operation continues.
