ArtsFest 2018 set for this Saturday; Seguin invites community to annual ArtsFest

(Seguin) -- The celebration of art gets underway this weekend in Seguin. The city of Seguin is prepping its plans for ArtsFest 2018. Held the first Saturday in March, ArtsFest is the celebration of all the arts and helps to raise money for future public art projects throughout the city.

Among the featured events is the annual CelebaARTe fundraiser. Main Street Director Kyle Kramm, says the event, held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Texas Theater, serves as the central hub for all things art and will include the announcement of the 2018 Outstanding Contributor to the Arts winner.

"We'll have live entertainment provided by Dottsy and she's got a few friends that will be performing along with her and we'll also have students from Teatro De Artes perform as well. We'll have live painters, a silent auction, food and beverages and there will also be artwork for sale," said Kramm.

Tickets to the event are $25 each and can be purchased in advance at Court Street Coffee Shop, Gift & Gourmet, the Seguin Convention and Visitors Office or online at Tickets at the door will be $30.

CelebaARTe will help wrap up a full day schedule -- a schedule that kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with the annual Run to Create 1K and 5K at Max Starcke Park.
The family fun walk/run is set to become a work of art with a foam station, color station, and Jello slip and slide. Registration and cost is available at

Other events include the ArtsFest Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Central Park. Vendors, kids activities and live musical performances will be held.

The list of events also includes Poetry Readings from 10 to 11:30 a.m.; the Poochanga, a dog costume contest from noon to 12:30 p.m in Central Park.; Kids Art Show Reception at noon at the Guadalupe County Heritage Museum; an Arts and Craft Beer Market from 1 to 6 p.m. at Seguin Brewing and the showing of the documentary Seguin Stories at both 1 and 6 p.m. at the Palace Theater.
