(Seguin) -- Guadalupe County voters have approved a fifth term in office for current County Treasurer Linda Douglass. Douglass, who doesn't face a Democratic candidate in November, will hang on to her seat following Tuesday's win during the March 6 Republican Primary Election. Douglass defeated opponent Bill Schwind for the Republican nomination.

Douglass received 7,615 of the votes cast or 71.32 percent while Schwind trailed with only 3,062 votes or 28.68 percent.

Douglass says she is pleased with the overwhelmingly support and is ready to get back to work.

"I am just so happy and I am so thankful and grateful to this community and to everyone that came out and voted for me, supported me. I want to thank God. I want to thank my family and my friends and it's just awesome. It's just an awesome opportunity to be able to serve the citizens of Guadalupe County for four more years," said Douglass.

Douglass says she again appreciates the vote of confidence and is pleased that taxpayers are satisfied with her ability to maintain the financial integrity of Guadalupe County.

"It's business as usual. We're always looking at new ways of doing things -- anyway to improve our investments, anyway to improve our office, any way to be out there, to be able to help the citizens and to serve the public and to serve this community," said Douglass.

Douglass today will continue to lead the financial operation for the county. She will begin her new term in January 2019.
