|(Seguin) -- Let the campaigning continue for Guadalupe County District Clerk. The top two vote getters in the race for District Clerk are headed for a run-off. Candidates Kristy Dunn and Linda Balk will face off for the seat during the May 22 Republican Primary Run-Off Election.|
Dunn, during Tuesday's Republican Primary Election, fell just shy of taking the entire win after receiving 5,030 votes or 46.90 percent of the votes cast. Balk followed right behind with 3,699 votes or 34.49 percent. Trailing at third place was Candidate Lynn Bothe with 1,997 votes or 18.62 percent.
Dunn says she is thrilled by all the support and is already preparing for May.
"Let me tell you, I'm just overwhelmed. It's pride, I'm honored that the Guadalupe County residents came out to vote because they believed in my plans and that is huge. My plan has been consistent from the beginning. I believe I have proved that to the voters and I'm going to continue to do that going into this run-off. This is what I am about. This is who I am and it's exciting. I am just super, super stoked," said Dunn.
Also excited about garnering enough votes for a run-off in May is Balk. Balk, who currently serves as the chief deputy clerk for the current office, says she can't thank voters enough.
"I want to thank everyone who supported me in their votes and their hard work in the primary. I look forward to a vigorous campaign that focuses on the issues facing our county and the district clerk's office and highlight the experience I will bring to the office. I am confident our vision for the district clerk's office will resonate with the voters on May 22," said Balk.
There is not a Democratic candidate during the November election essentially positioning May's winner to the seat. The seat is currently being held by District Clerk Debi Crow who chose not to seek re-election.
