|(Seguin) -- Crayons, pencils, notebooks and erasers will all be making their way into students’ hands during Saturday's Pack the Bus Distribution Day. But parents take note, the event will be hosted at a new location. This year's school supply distribution for low income families will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. The event is organized each year by the Lions clubs in Seguin and Geronimo. |
For months, the groups have been collecting school supplies for Seguin and Navarro ISD students enrolled in Pre-K through the sixth grades.
Those needing assistance must bring a SNAP card, Medicaid letter or a reduced lunch letter for admittance into the distribution drive.
Pack the Bus Coordinator Suzanne Sanders says volunteers are preparing to distribute approximately 2,000 school supply bags for students.
In addition to picking up school supplies, families will be provided plenty of information to help them throughout the year. Sanders says local services and non-profits have again teamed together to participate in the annual Inter-Agency Health Fair to be held at the same time of distribution.
Sanders says following the event, the group will divide whatever bags are left and distribute them among all the elementary schools. Parents, who miss Saturday's event, will be encouraged to check with their respective campus on the first day of school for assistance with supplies if still available.
Again, Pack the Bus Distribution Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. The church is located at 409 W. Krezdorn St.
