|(Seguin) -- The ballot is also complete for those looking to serve on the Seguin City Council. The filing deadline for those wanting a place on the ballot was Monday afternoon. Seats up for grabs in the city of Seguin include Districts 3, 5, 7 and 8. Of these races, only two will be contested. |
The first contested race is for District 3 seat on the Seguin City Council. Incumbent Jim Lievens will face a challenge from candidate Christopher Aviles.
Campaigning will also soon begin for District 7. Filing for the position are Candidates Penny Wallace and William Odom Jr. Both candidates are looking to fill the seat currently held by Councilwoman Donna Dodgen, who is not eligible for another term due to the city's term limits.
Filing for District 5 is the Rev. Jeremy Roy. Roy was the only candidate to file for the position District 5 seat, which was previously held by the late Councilman Carlos Medrano. Medrano died last month. Medrano had reached his term limit and would not have been eligible to seek re-election.
District 8 Councilman Mark Herbold will run unopposed during the election.
The general election date is set for Tuesday, November 6.
