|(Seguin) -- The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees tonight is expected to resume the evaluation process for the district's top administrator. The school board will again meet behind closed doors to complete the evaluation process and contract neogitations that were started over a week ago for Supertindent Dr. Matthew Guiterrez. |
Trustees have already spent more than 3.5 hours behind closed doors discussing his performance. Following the last meeting, Board President Cinde Thomas-Jimenez stated that the decision to come back and continue was in no way a reflection of Dr. Gutierrez's leadership and stated that Dr. Gutierrez had the full support of all seven members of the school board. However, she said they still needed more time to help wrap up the process.
Prior to meeting behind closed doors, trustees are also expected to approve a memorandum of understanding among Seguin, Navarro and Marion ISDs for the provivions of services to students with disabilities in the Seguin Works! Transition Program.
According to the district, the agreement will allow Seguin ISD to enable students who are 18 years of age or older, and reside in Navarro ISD or Marion ISD to participate in the Seguin WORKS! Transition program." The program has already been in operation for the past school year. They say, "for the 2018-19 school year,
the program will continue to serve students who are 18 years of age or older, are enrolled in Special Education Programming and who have a need for transition services to enable opportunities to engage in work and career building skills as well as to learn skills needed for independent living."
The Seguin ISD provides this program to current students within the Seguin ISD district boundaries. This new agreeement will, again, extend into the two surrounding districts.
The meeting gets underway at 6 p.m. today in the Seguin ISD Board Room located inside of Oak Park Mall.
