|(Seguin) -- A hand grenade found outside a local home was quickly eliminated as a potential threat thanks to the fast action by the Seguin Police Department and San Antonio Bomb Squad. Just minutes after arriving at the home, experts reported that the grenade was only a dud or novelty item.|
Tanya Brown, public information officer for the Seguin Police Department, says the incident was reported around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the home located in the 300 block of West Mountain Street located just across the old Saegert Middle School campus.
"The big yellow two-story house -- it's vacant. It's for sale. There was somebody that was interested in the home and walking around the property, they discovered a hand grenade on a water heater in the backyard of the residence," said Brown.
Officials say they do applaud the fast action by emergency officials to gain control of the situation and say these types of threats are always taken very seriously by the Seguin Police Department.
