(Seguin) -- If you travel around the area, you might have noticed that food trucks are becoming more and more popular across the state and across the United States. Here in Seguin, food truck growth has been relatively slow, but recently, there has been greater interest in food truck operations.
The Seguin City Council today is expected to consider the first reading of an ordinance that would establish guidelines for a food truck in the city of Seguin. Food trucks, once used to be quick sandwiches for construction workers, but now many trucks feature gourmet items, like lobster macaroni and cheese or Korean-style barbecue.
City staff says it has looked at food truck ordinances from several Texas cities and has drafted an ordinance that it thinks will best meet Seguin's needs. It will allow for food trucks to operate on both private property and public streets with some restrictions. Those restrictions and the overall plan for the ordinance will be explained during tonight's meeting.
The council meeting gets underway at 5:30 p.m. at Seguin City Hall Council Chambers.
