(Seguin) -- Having a good time will all be for a good cause during this weekend's annual Seguin Education Foundation 9th Annual Denim & Diamonds Gala. The fundraising event is scheduled for Saturday at the Seguin Coliseum.
SEF Executive Director Katie Edwards says the evening will include plenty of fun and music plus the chance to win this year's top 50/50 raffle prize of up to $2,500.
"Grants are things that are above and beyond what the school district can provide in a normal budget. They might be fun items that deal with outdoor learning or physical education, editions to the music category that might be for an elementary school. It doesn't always have as much budgets for music items to curricular items that they might need that go above and beyond what the school district has in their annual budget. So it's kind of like the icing on the cake that these teachers can have and provide for their students," said Edwards.
All money raised will go to help fund classroom grants for campuses throughout the Seguin ISD. Edwards says the grants are the basis for the organization.
"The ticket for the gala is $45 and includes beer and wine, delicious catered family style meal that'll be a more of a barbecue or country style this year and dessert provided by Sweet Treats in town. So it's a wonderful meal, drinks included and we hope everyone has an enjoyable time," said Edwards.
The casual gala gets underway at 6 p.m. Saturday with a cocktail hour. Dinner and dancing will follow. Music will be provided by Clift Taft and the Buckwild Band.
Tickets are $45 each and can be purchased at Seguin Radio KWED or by calling 830-822-2688. Raffle tickets this year are $10 each and can also now be purchased in advance. Individuals do not need to be present to win.
