(Seguin) -- Seguin is invited to hear the Matador Band's entire Carnegie Hall performance this Thursday night at First Baptist Church. Band Director Stan Mauldin says the concert will be held just prior to the band's departure to New York that evening. The band on Monday will be performing at the prestigious concert hall in New York City.
Mauldin says after garnering community support and months of planning and fundraising, the band is ready to thank the community with the sound of music.
"It is our thank you concert. As musicians, the only thing we can give back is our talent and we want you to come see our kids and see what they've been working on. It should be just a great concert. It's the Pre-Carnegie Concert. Everything we're going to do in New York, we're going to do here in Seguin as well. You'll get to see what's going on in New York and it's our thank you to the community," said Mauldin.
In fact, Mauldin says the band hopes to carry its appreciation for Seguin to its actual performance at Carnegie Hall on Monday night.
"Without the kindness of our citizens of Seguin and the Seguin community, we wouldn't be going to New York. So we met all of our obligations and we could not have done that without the people of Seguin. So we're going to dedicate our concert to those people in Seguin and the community of Seguin in general," said Mauldin.
The Pre-Carnegie Concert will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. The church is located at 1314 E. Cedar St.
